I am making it all short and sweet posts, I am not in a mood to write much. So..........

Got the fertilisation rate, 3 out of 6 have made it.

I was expecting atleast 4-5 would make it (probably being greedy)...but then, I am happy about this result...

We got the report saying that we've got one 1-celled emby, two emby's are making their way with slight fragmentation on the day after ER (which is today).

Is this very normal to be one-celled?

Is this very normal for the embies to be slow-growers?

DH is very much worried about this.....

We're praying that the all the three grow up well....

And we were asked to come on Saturday for ET....

There you go, although I have so many questions bothering me, I'm very happy that atlast I'm making it to this stage....

Stage 2 - (sigh of relief) - My share of eggs.....

OK, I made a promise myself that I won't post until I've got a good news...

And I have now.

The egg retrieval was done yesterday. Me and DH went in to the hospital. DH gave a sample.

I was moved from room to room in the hospital in order to avoid recognising the donor (both of us were playing hide and seek!)

We then came back home, and we called in to check the number of eggs retrieved. The nurse wasn't available for the next two times we called.

And the third time, she came on the line, and said, 6eggs are reserved for us and 6 for the donor.

We were kind of relieved. Now, the next stage of worries start!!!

Is this number great?

How many will make to embryos?

Will they be good babies to us?

OMG..........:)

Are we being overlooked???

I am not told what would be the action plan!

Am I going to continue with the Estrogen tablets (ofcourse, I am now!) until the ET? Not sure why!!! What will happen if my lining thickens more than ideal for IVF!!! Nope, no idea!!!

How is the donor doing now? Nope, no idea!!!

Whether she has got her AF or has she started taking medicines for follicle growth! Nope, no idea!!!

In an effort to seek answers to all these questions, DH called the clinic to know to get an update today in the morning.

The nurse who is taking care of us came on the line.

Here is a small excerpt from the conversation:

DH: Hello there, are you free to have a quick chat with me now? If not, I'll call you in the afternoon.

Nurse: Oh my god, I was just thinking you people and about to give you a call. I'm free now, go on.

DH: (£$$%"$£"£!~@~) I was just wondering whether my wife can continue with tablets?

Nurse: Yes she can, we've got a scan booked for her next week, Thursday. What time would you want to come through?

DH: At 2.30pm. Can you tell me whether the donor has started with Puregon?

Nurse: Thats fine. I'm busy right now with ET. Is there anything that I can help you with!

DH: Nothing, thanks.

Isn't this totally annoying when DH was trying to find out about the donor and we've got no response on it.

He is pissed off, thats all I can say about the way they handle us.

Hmmm... Are we being overlooked!!!!

Anyway hope to give some pleasant news when I write the next post :)

When would the tx start - Confused.com!!!

A big disappointment thought hurls around me. Yesterday, I called up the clinic to know what's really going on!
The nurse said that they are expecting an endometrium shed for the donor, and they are still not sure of when the retrieval and the transfer would be yet!

I'm not really pleased with this!!! I'm going mad at this.

Does the clinic and its practice really matter a lot? DH was searching the other day for the performance of the clinic, and the HFEA has clearly earmarked the clinic's standard is so-so!

Oh gosh, since my cycle is funded, I have no other option than undergoing tx in this clinic. I'm kind of worried with this as well.

Well, I'm not going to take too many things and crib on these issues. Let me leave everything to the superpower who knows what to give us, for sure.

Still remaining optimistic..... :)

Stage 1 of DEIVF - Part 3 - USS results

On Thursday, the 14th August, I had an USS to check the growth of the endometrium. The nurse said, 'That's perfect' and the endometrium measured 11mm.

I was so relieved, but then, the treatment (Donor EC & ET) which is supposed to be going on this week (18th-) is delayed by a week's time.

I am not sure what the nurse said, and what I understood, but this is it: She said the donor had a thick endometrium, so they made her shed a few mm (is that possible)! and that the donor will be on Puregon from 18th, so that we will have EC next week! I have the faintest idea what this is all about!

Anyway, I was under the assumption my 2WW will start this week, but its going to start next week.

Also, I am still taking Elleste Solo till my ET(?). There are so many questions running in my little brain, but with no answers. Just praying to keep myself calm.

I am going to anyway give a call to the hospital to confirm and clarify my doubts, will the nurse be offended if I do so!

Stage 1 of DEIVF - Part 2

Now I am on Day 8 of the estradiol hemihydrate (EHH) till tomorrow with two tablets each day, increasing the dosage to 3 a day until my USS day which is on 14 August 2008.

Seriously, out of the past 72 hours, I would have slept for atleast 40 hours!!!

May be I am exaggerating the fact that I am too tired but then, the results are two-fold (due to estradiol hemihydrate):

Feeling too sleepy, aww.......Yawning again ;)
Tiresome mornings and evenings, not nights, since I tend to listen to music until 12.30-1.00pm.
And then, mild, slimy secretions.

Phew, I am in Uni now, otherwise, would have been off to sleep.

But applying the same sets of thumbrules of 2WW to this, the medication is working right with these symptoms and is preparing the lining!!!

Anyway, I am going now to continue with my thesis writing.
Meanwhile, I have a doubt, my clinic suggested me to finish full course of tablets, before they could do an USS on me to check the growth of the lining. Is it required to have a scan in between these two weeks? Not sure from my wavering-mind.....

Back with some more experiences with EHH.

Stage 1 of DEIVF - Part 1

I had my first ultrasound scan (USS) to check the status of the lining on Thursday 31st August 2008.
There was no lining which was as expected since there were no periods/conceptions for the past two months.

I have give some estradiol hemihydrate tablets to start the process of building the lining for 15 days, and then, will be called for a USS again.

A slight pain in the proximity of the right ovary occurs every now and then. I am also feeling sleepy.....

Anyway, will update you about the USS results to be taken 14th August 2008 to see how far the lining helps me in getting a baby.
